Tortie Tuesday

Hey everybuddy! It's been awhile for Tortie Tuesday but I wanted to let you know the state of things around here ever since that wiggle butt, Lexi, moved in. For the first several days she was here, my sisfur, Angel, and I stayed out of that brat's way which wasn't so bad since we had good sunpuddles...

But then I started getting perturbed because she was always downstairs with my daddy so I started making my presence known which sent her in a tizzy...

Mommy has been asked why Lexi always has a leash on. Well, can you see why? She's a fast little burger so that gives our peeps 6 more feet of chance to catch her. Anyway, the other day I got hungry braver so I came all the way downstairs...

I had been about a foot from Lexi and hissed at her twice to let her know who's boss then I just sat back and watched Mommy try to keep her attention away from me. Her attention span is .236 seconds but she actually did pretty good. She doesn't get in so much of a tizzy anymore so we even enjoyed movie night together...

I was on Mommy for a bit too but left before she could reach her camera. Anyway, as of Sunday, Lexi no longer has her leash on in the house unless she gets in a tizzy again and chases us which has only happened once. She looks pretty harmless doesn't she?

Don't let that fool you! She's 100% Energizer puppy! She has come a long way in the week she's been here though. She had quite a few habits that needed to be changed and those are changing. As for her hogging Daddy's attention, well, he gives me lots of cuddles and lets me know I'm still his girl. He does the same for Angel but of course I know I'm his favorite even if he won't say it because I'm the Tortie!

Weekend Wrap Up

We're well on our way to re-converting our Mommy from the accounting type of CPA to our type of CPA - Cat's Purrsonal Assistant! I helped her relax as well starting with movie night...

On Saturday she left us to go to an art class with a friend. They did something called gel plate printing. She doesn't really understand the purpose of it but she had fun rolling paint on the gel plate and transferring it to paper. Here are a few of her creations...

Notice how the tiger's eyes in the middle bottom print still show through. She was pretty impressed with that but don't tell her it was pure luck since she had absolutely nothing to do with that happening. Anyway, she had good time despite not knowing what was going on. 

Oh, I successfully got her up early enough Saturday to avoid starvation and when she yelled "SHUSH" to me on Sunday, she woke Daddy up so he fed us. We usually try to let him sleep but hey, whatever it takes!

Weekend Wrap Up

Monday came quick! We've had four day weekends since last April so this two day weekend thing is going to take some getting used to. Thankfully Mommy's cough is much better so we were able to enjoy movie night without her disturbing us...

It didn't rain yesterday so  Daddy take Mommy out of the house for the first time in a long time. Of course he took her to her happy place...

It worked, it made her happy. We would've been really happy with a birdie...

But nope, no birdie, not even a feather. No fish either. We really don't get why it's such a happy place because none of the things that make us happy ever come back with them. Anyway, we are happy Mommy is feeling better. Every once in awhile her voice still sounds like the devil and it scares the beejeebers out of us but for the most part, she's much better. Thank Cod.

Weekend Wrap Up

We don't normally notice weekends but last week was so long we (aka somemommy) really needed a nice weekend. Of course we made sure she did! Isabella didn't even sleep through movie night, instead she stared at mommy...

Whenever Mommy went outside, I kept tabs on her...

It all worked and she had a really good weekend! She and a friend got supplies for a new crafty project they're starting soon. She also got the nerve up to make bread and butter pickles for the first time ever...

Now before you think she's all domesticated or something, Daddy had to chop up the cucumbers and onions for her but she did stir the ingredients and mix them together. She says they turned out pretty good for her first try. What I thought was good was relaxing with her after all that hard work...

What's also good is that our friends in Florida are all safe after the hurricane. The Hemingway kitties in Key West are also safe. We're so relieved but we're continuing to purr for all those effected as they clean up the aftermath of such a devastating storm.

Trying Something New

Mommy is trying to step our of her comfort zone this year. When her talented, artsy friend asked her to go to an art journaling class she said yes despite her inner voice screaming no way Jose! It was even more intimidating when the class was taught by the lady who designed the journal they used...

It was very difficult for mommy to retain some semblance of order in the midst of the messy chaos that art journaling entails. The mat under their work was supposed to double as their paint palette. Mommy put her paint on a Christmas paper plate she brought. Notice the nice, neat paint puddles not touching...

The Media journal is unique in that it has different mediums as pages. These are two watercolor paper pages with a burlap page in the middle. An ivory card was taped in the middle too...

This one is canvas and the flowers are drawn on with Scribble Sticks...

The class was six hours long and Mommy was completely overwhelmed. Art journaling peeps speak a whole different language so three minutes into the class she gave up trying to understand what they were talking about. Dina did show the class Mommy's tulips as an example of an alternative to the faces the entire rest of the class was drawing on their canvases. After class was over, Mommy was asked what she thought. All she could say was she was overwhelmed. There was just too much for her left brain to process. She did enjoy spending the day with her friend and she also talked to Dina about her Ragamuffin kitties. She even showed her a picture of us and Dina said we were very cute! Anyway, we're glad it's Friday and all of us are looking forward to movie night tonight...

Weekend Wrap Up

We're glad it's a holiday week because our weekend was too short. We didn't even have Friday night movie night until Saturday night...

Yesterday we got our blood test results from the home vet visit last Wednesday. She said our chemistry panels, thyroid and blood cell count results are all normal. She said we look great and are healthy! Of course we knew everything would be perfect but somemommy is a worry wart so she's relieved. 

That was pretty much all our weekend excitement. Anything exciting happen in your neck of the woods?

Also known as 'Watch me and squee' night. Somemommy has no idea what movie was on because I'm so cute she can hardly stand it. Just sayin.

Weekend Wrap Up

We enjoyed a lazy Sunday after a Caturday movie night of lounging in the blanket hammick with my sisfur Isabella...

Up until then though it wasn't so relaxed around here. Something happened to me Thursday night that Mommy can't figure out and I'm not telling either. At bedtime, I was in the master bathroom waiting for the nightly routine while Mommy was in the closet. The next thing she saw was me running out all crouched down. After searching for me all over, Daddy found me in the closet in our office which is a place I rarely go. I was skittish even after I was brought into the bedroom for my nightly treats. I wouldn't eat them and ran off again only this time I huddled in Daddy's chair where I usually only sit after he's made it warm so it was odd I was there with it being cold. I didn't wake Mommy up all night either but I did ask for treats about 7am although I wouldn't eat them. On Friday I kept going near Mommy like I wanted to jump in her lap but I wouldn't. I was still skittish and I'd go into small spaces and huddle in the meatloaf position again. Also, I wouldn't jump up on the counters by myself but would stand on my back legs and try to climb up until Mommy finally picked me up and helped me onto the counters. I did enjoy my treats Friday night and woke Mommy up through the night which she was actually happy about. Saturday morning I still wouldn't jump on the counters but by the afternoon I was pretty much back to normal and was able to jump on the counters myself. Mommy thinks I hurt myself Thursday night although she didn't hear me fall or make any noise whatsoever. Daddy thinks something scared me that they didn't hear but then doesn't know why I wouldn't jump up by myself. He says it could be because Mommy pampers me too much. Whatever. Anyway, I'm not saying anything but if you have any theories of what might have happened, Mommy would love to hear them. She's befuddled!

Observations

I've discovered several things lately and thought I'd share some with you. First of all I discovered that I get my best sleep in my blanket hammick on movie night. No matter how fidgety Mommy gets when her feets supposedly go numb, I don't wake up...

A lot of the colors in our house match my furs...

Now that Daddy is in management, we've discovered how many catered lunch meetings there are. Who knew management ate so well!  Also, he has to wear ties now and he was positive I'd play with them and fur them up when I'm on my laundry throne. Of course, he discovered he was wrong...

I've also discovered that Mondays come really quickly during tax season.

Weekend Wrap Up

Fall is more normal this year with rainy, dreary days perfect for napping. That is exactly what our weekend was like. Well, at least it started out that way...

Go ahead. I'll give you another minute to look at that photo again and squee at my cuteness.

I'm pretty used to that since my mommy squees all. the. time. Anyway, yesterday I was ready for more napping but somemommy was panicking over having a craft show in three weeks and not enough inventory which meant I had to snoopervise beady goodies...

It appears I was the inspiration too...

She completed two necklaces this weekend and wanted to make a third but for some unknown reason she changed her mind...

Blanket Hammick

Last week Angel showed how she lays on the blanket hammick over Mommy's legs despite cutting off the circulation in Mommy's legs and toes. Well, I like the blanket hammick too..

Even though it seems to turn into a blanket cocoon...

For some reason, not long after this happens Mommy whines up a storm I have to go lay on Daddy. That's okay, I'm a Daddy's Girl anyway!

Finally Friday

We are so glad it's Friday! It's been a busy week! Not only did we work but Mommy left us alone forever for a few hours four out of five days. Some may think cats sleep when left alone and for one of us that's true but I bring my toys downstairs at the door for Mommy to find when she returns home. After all that hard work I'm ready for movie night...

Nothing is better than relaxing on my blanket hammick across Mommy's legs even with her complaining about her toes bending in unnatural ways to the point of not being able to feel them. Whatever.

Hey Isabella, it's Friday! Aren't you ready for movie night tonight? Daddy might even give you a piece of popcorn. Won't that be worth waking up for?

Alright, I'm up - for Daddy, not the movie or popcorn. Well, maybe...

Oh, sorry, Bella. I didn't mean for you to get up right now - it's not night yet. Usually it takes you hours to wake up so I was just giving you a heads up in case you forgot what day it was.

What?

Okay. In that case. Wake me when it's really time to get up...

Finally Friday

We're glad this week is coming to close especially since tonight is movie night.  For some reason I'm wondering if we'll be watching 'Batman'...

Or 'Angels and Demons'...

Oh don't pout Angel.  I was just kidding.  We don't have to watch any movie.  We can listen to Meat Loaf instead...

MOL!  Get it?  Meatloaf?  Oh, I crack myself up!

Weekend Wrap Up

We hope you had a wonderful weekend!  We worked this weekend but we also relaxed too beginning with Friday night movie night...

Honestly it should be called Friday night squee at me night because that's all Mommy does.  I realize I'm so cute she can hardly stand it but why bother with a movie when all she does is watch me?  Anyway, Isabella got to work right away this weekend by holding down the couch...

I used my floofy furs to make sure no winds blew on the beady goodies we were making...

I helped Mommy make a pearl bracelet for the 3 year old granddaughter of one of our blog friends.  I helped model it but pay attention to my technique - I was getting scritches at the same time.  This is a very complex move...

Here's the finished bracelet...

That was the smallest bracelet we've ever made but we're very happy with how it turned out and we sure hope the special little girl is happy with it too!
