This month's EtsyBloggers Blog Carnival theme choices were 1) What is your favorite tradition for the Thanksgiving holiday? or 2) How are you going to prepare your business for the holiday rush? Since this will be our first holiday season with our BeadedTail shop, I have no idea how to prepare so I chose the discuss my favorite traditions for Thanksgiving.
Growing up I always remember my mom's fantastic stuffing and spending the day with family. We have a small family and I'm an only child so Thanksgiving was always a nice time to get together with grandparents and celebrate the day with good food and football. On November 23, 1983, the day before Thanksgiving that year, I began dating my now husband and he became a part of every Thanksgiving celebration!
Since the early 1990's, after hubby and I moved from Kansas to Colorado and later to Oregon, we have been celebrating all holidays with just the two of us as jobs and pets keep us from traveling to visit my mom in Las Vegas or my dad, Grandma and other family in Kansas. They are busy too so are unable to come visit us during the holidays.
Even though it's just the two of us, we still fix a Thanksgiving dinner, although on a much smaller scale, and we also have to watch football. We'll start a fire in the fireplace and just enjoy a nice, quiet day. This year will be more special since it's the 25th anniversary of our first Thanksgiving together and this is the year of our 20th wedding anniversary too. And of course, getting to spend the day with Sadie, Isabella and Angel is just the dollop of whipped cream on the already perfect pumpkin pie!

You guys will definitely have a great time. Many concatulashuns in advance for the upcoming anniversaries :)
That sounds pretty wonderful! It's a shame you can not visit with your family very often. There is nothing more precious on earth than family.
This sounds like a great Thanksgiving to me! I'm envious.
And please tell Isabella that she is very well behaved :) - Tasha could not go near that paper turkey without having an uncontrollable urge to start shredding it.
I love Isabella and she obviously knows the turkey isn't worth her time. Have a great Thanksgiving.

This is the first year that Mom and Dad will be along for Thanksgiving (other than having us around) and they are leaving us alone and going to Sanibel. We think that is almost like pet abuse...we're going to miss out on yummy turkey!!

Happy anniversary!
We'll have a quiet Thanksgiving here in KS. No family close, so it's just us: the four pups and two bipeds. And a turkey in a crockpot! Oh... and football. :)

PS: Thanks for visiting mom's bag blog!
Congratulations on 20 years of marriage! That's a great Thanksgiving story!
Dressing and football! Who needs more than that?
Sounds perfect. Good food and relaxation. Anyway I hope the food preparer get some relaxing time.

Sounds good to me also!! We too spend most of our holidays alone. Our children are all grown and live far away.
But it's also very nice to have the time alone. We just eat good food, some times we even go out for thanksgiving dinner, then no dishes, altogether we have a lovely time just being alone.
Of course every other year or so everyone descends upon us and then I have a ton of cooking to do. and also piles and piles of dishes.
I just know all of your special days coming up will be fantastic!!:-)
Congratulations! That's definitely a milestone. Your Thanksgiving sounds good to me. Ours will be relaxing too: Eat at Hometown Buffet, go to the zoo, watch some football with our cats.
Beautiful carnival! I have not realized/remembered? that you and DH had been together for so long. A wonderful gift to be thankful for...everyday!
Isabella, did you pose with the gobbler because you two have so many coordinating colors?
Where has Angel been lately?

Happy anniversaries!
Your day sounds delightful. We'll be cooking for ten this year. Yipes!
So wonderful..happy 20th and 25th anniversaries!! It will be just me and my husband and 2 girls this year too..We are moving 3 days later, so no big meal is planned. We are going to have a "fajita thanksgiving" ha ha...and will be thankful for that, while snuggling watching the parade! Enjoy your thanksgiving!
You guys have been together for a long time!
That sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving. My beans are like you - Mom's family is in Indiana so Mom and Dad spend it here at home together.
Isabella looks so cute with that turkey!
Looks like Isabella is trying to figure out what that creature is. Heehee! Those pictures are too cute! Hope y'all enjoy your 25th Thanksgiving together. :)
Thanks for putting the free kibble badges here.
This is too much! I am laughing because she looks like she is actually posing by the turkey. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Happy 25th!! That is really great. Please watch the football game for me as well, since I will be stuck in the kitchen cooking. My favorite Thanksgivings were the ones spent at my grandmother's house when I was growing up. Have a great Thanksgiving:)
That sounds really nice! Like you colorful turkey! Have a good Thanksgiving! {:-Deb
