Nothing Gets Between Me and Sunlight, Well, Almost Nothing!

There is nothing better than lounging in the sunlight. Hey Angel, whaddya think you're doing? You're blocking my sunlight!

Snoopervising is hard work!

Since Mommy works from home and she's really busy this time of year, we have to snoopervise everything she does to make sure she stays on track. We always make sure her chair is warm and comfy for her.

We make sure her computer is putting off adequate heat.

We have to make sure the printer is working properly.

Snoopervising is just plain exhausting!

Kitty Grass?

Mommy growed us this wheat grass in a pot. First of all, you'd think since Mommy is from Kansas she'd know this doesn't look like wheat.

And secondly, isn't grass something that cows eat?

NOTE: Since so many are asking, we loved the grass! We don't eat much at one time so haven't had any problems with it coming back up, as some have pointed out in the comments. Turns out we are more like cows than we thought, we graze on it every now and again!

Christmas Fun!

Hello everybuddy! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas! We sure did! Yesterday we got to see what was in our stockings. Our stockings were filled with the bestest gifts ever! Toys from Casbah Kitten! We got a Pickle, Jelly Beans, a Fatberd and our very own cell phone!

Hello, Santa? I LOVE my presents!

Isabella carried the cell phone all over the house. Mommy took a video of her although it's a little dark.

Here's another video Mommy took of us playing, well, me watching Isabella play. At the end, you'll see that someone else was hanging around too watching us.

It's been snowing quite a bit here in the Pacific Northwest. It makes everything in the backyard so pretty.

So magical.

Spreading the Word

The reason my mom and I decided to sell jewelry through our BeadedTail shop was to raise funds for animal awareness causes. Each month I donate the proceeds from our shop to a worthy animal charity. In October the chosen charity was Alley Cat Allies and I want to share what I've learned from them about feral cats and bring awareness to issues resulting in the deaths of countless cats every day. Here are some of the things that we need to be aware about:

  Over 70% of cats are killed in our nation’s animal control pounds and shelters. That number jumps to virtually 100% for feral cats.
  


• 
  
  A revolutionary change in shelter practice and policy is needed that protects the lives of cats, and there is a movement pushing for change.
  


• 
  
  There are multiple programs that are a humane method of care for all cats, including affordable, accessible spay and neuter services available to everyone and Trap-Neuter-Return programs for feral cats.

The issue of feral cats is very near and dear to my heart because the alley behind my husband's and my first house was home to many feral cats. Of course I befriended several of them and one even was brave enough to come into our house but didn't want to be touched very much. Our two kitties, Reebok and Panther, were actually orphaned feral kitties that we found in the alley and raised from the bottle into adulthood. We lost Reebok to cancer in 2001 and Panther was 18 years old when she passed away in 2006.

What I have since learned from the information provided by Alley Cat Allies is that if anyone had taken those feral cats into a non-no kill shelter thinking they were helping the cats by getting them off the streets, there would be no chance of adoption and the cats would be killed. The reason being is that shelters handle adoptable cats and one that is afraid of humans certainly doesn't fit that criteria.

I just want to spread the word and let people know that feral cats do not belong in animal shelters. If you come across some feral kitties that you want to help, please check out Alley Cat Allies website for information. Together we can educate others about the need for Trap-Neuter-Return programs to reduce the cat population and keep feral cats out of shelters. We can make a difference and save lives!

Yay! It's Finally Thursday!

We're watching for Mommy and Daddy to come home today from the coast! Grandpa took really good care of us and gave us plenty of treats and took Sadie on lots of walks but we still want Mommy and Daddy to come home.

Grandpa doesn't have kitties of his own so he doesn't realize that kitties rule the house. He couldn't understand why we are always around and why Angel gets in front of the computer monitor when he tried to check his email.

We hope Mommy brought us presents and Angel and I know what we want from the beach! Eeny, meeny, miny....

What do you love about pets?

Yeah, I know, what's not to love about pets? The list of things that I love about cats and dogs is pretty long and would look something like this:

• I love to hear a cat purr.

• I love the way all of our pets greet us when we come home - Sadie has a cute way of greeting us by tilting her head to the right and lifting up her lip on her left side in kind of an Elvis Presley way. The cats are always waiting by the door when we walk in from the garage with Isabella sprawled out across the hallway so we have to stop to pet her before walking by.
• I love watching them sleep so peacefully and when they are dreaming I wonder what they are chasing or what Sadie is barking at.
• I love when the cats snuggle with me or lay on my lap while I'm working.

These are just a few of the many, many things that I love about pets. What do you love about your pets?

The View From Inside

We spend a lot of time looking out the windows.

Mommy can't lower the blinds because we have to be able to see what is going on outside.

We have a kitty perch to help us look out one of the front windows.

Or we can nap in the kitty perch when it's sunny out.

Mommy also made us our own bench out of an end table covered with foam and fabric so we can see out. Sadie is the same height as the windows so she doesn't need a bench.

We may like to look out but we don't want to go out, well Sadie has to go out but she prefers to stay inside most of the time because we all have such a cushy life! Do you like looking out the windows too?
