Tortie Tuesday on Tax Day!

The rain has returned and our mommy is falling into her usual after tax season funk so I thought it was the perfect time to remind her of my wise advice from way back in 2012. Here's a rerun which she needs to hear again. Okay, maybe I'm hoping she makes another cake so we have frosting. A Tortie can dream! Anyway, hope you take my advice to heart too!

Yay it's Tortie Tuesday and it's also Tax Day! We had to help Mommy work an extra day this year since yesterday was the Emancipation holiday in Washington, DC so the whole country got an extra day to invest in their IRAs and to file their taxes today...
But now it's time to get back to normal around here. One of the things Mommy doesn't like about tax season is that so many things get put on hold because she's working so much. My wise Tortie advice is that life is too short to be put on hold! I even convinced Mommy that it's okay to take a cake decorating class she's always wanted to and she listened! Here's her first cake that she made last Thursday:
She said it was more stressful than a 6 hour tax return but she did have fun. We love the buttercream frosting and can't wait for the next 8 weeks of cakes!
Huh, what's that Mommy? Why are the next cakes going to Daddy's work? Can we at least have some frosting?

Anyway, today's lesson is: Life is too short, enjoy the frosting!
If there's something you've always wanted to do - do it!

A Little of This, None of That

After three super hot days, it's finally cooled down which means open windows...

We're hanging on to summer as much as we can even though the calendar shows September is coming in 10 days. There's so much to do before the rainy season, holiday season and tax season gets here. Time just seem to get away from us! So what is the best way to slow down time? Just relax and savor every moment...

That's what we'll be doing in the next few weeks. We'll post when we have something to say but mostly we'll be savoring the remaining days of summer.

A Sadieday Reminder...

The holidays are just around the corner but it's important to not get caught up in the hustle and bustle and to remember what the holidays are about.  Mommy had been burning her candle at both ends, whatever that means, so to take a step back and relax, she and Daddy went to her most favorite spot on the coast - Cape Lookout...

They stayed in a cabin close to the beach where they listened to the waves and watched the sunsets...

She came back recharged like our angel sisfur Sadie always did when she went to the beach too...

We'll be sure to take time out for ourselves too...

Be sure to recognize when things are getting hectic in your house and take some time out for yourself such as laying in a sunpuddle, napping, snacking or napping some more.  The next month will fly by so enjoy it to the fullest!

It's Sadieday!

It's Sadieday!  We know today is a day for things that fill you with joy but Mommy has realized that every day should be filled with joy and anything that fills you with dread should be eliminated if possible.  She always dreaded Sunday evenings since that meant Monday was coming and she even dreaded the holiday season because it meant tax season was coming.  As a result, we have a new motto:

"Don't dread tomorrow because then you lose the joy of today."

Pretty wise huh?  Of course every day is a joy to us even though we don't express it near as well as our sisfur Sadie did...

Can't you just see her joy?  We hope your Sadieday and every day has something that brings you joy and, as always, lots of smiles!  Be sure to spread those smiles around since you never know who's day you'll brighten with that smile!

Yay it's Sadieday! I've been so looking forward to today! I can't wait to go out and enjoy the day, do you want to come along? Well then, let's go! Ah yes, so much area for running and sniffing! What could be better? Seeing my cute face is better huh? But it's just too tempting to go exploring...

It's Sadieday so I hope you can spend the day doing some of your favorite things! I plan on enjoying a nice bone while laying in the sun!

And I'll do my furry best to make sure I don't get my paws dirty so I can go back inside and nap later without having to get a bath!

Happy Tortie Tuesday! Today's lesson in Tortieness is to do what makes you happy, recognize your strengths and enjoy everything you do. I am very happy when curled up on Mommy's lap while she's trying to work.
