Thoughts on Memorial Day

Today our thoughts are with the men and women who have fought and died for our country. We are grateful for their service and our freedom. We are also thinking of our loved ones we have lost.
And for all the birdies who have gone before, please send more.

What? I'm a cat - what'd you expect?

With the completion of my treatment, and my energy level coming back - I decided to pay it forward, by crocheting hats for other cancer patients. What a wonderful feeling to give back for all the help I received! "

Stroll on Sadieday

It's Sadieday and since it's also Memorial Day weekend, today's stroll will be down memory lane. I haven't always been the only dog in our household, I used to have a big sisfur named KC. Mommy and daddy adopted KC in 1993 as a 2 month old puppy so she was 7 years old when I joined the family in 2001.
It didn't take long for me to be bigger than her though.
KC liked the beach and ran all around with me but she never got in the water. She also loved to chase seagulls and when she got older she lost her hearing so one time she chased the seagulls and kept on going down the beach following the seagulls because she couldn't hear Daddy calling for her. He had to run way down the beach to get her. Ha roo roo!
Even though she was a black chow mix, her hair turned red at the ends.
KC was stubborn but she was very friendly and loved everybody she met and she was a good big sisfur. She crossed the bridge on August 29, 2007 at age 14. We all still miss her very much.
Thank you for taking a stroll down memory lane with me! I hope you enjoyed meeting my big sisfur KC. Be sure to remember your loved ones this weekend!

Hope you have a wonderful Sadieday!

Thankful Thursday!

Back in March several EtsyBlogger teammates participated in a journal swap as a fun way to get to know each other better. Well, back in March our mommy was too busy doing tax returns to be able to join in but Erika from NicoDesigns was very nice and said she'd do a journal swap with Mommy after tax season was over. We are very grateful to Erika because it means we get to help make the journal! My sisfur Isabella snoopervises everything...
She very thorough and doesn't miss a thing...
For some reason, Mommy keeps the paper in bags so they are hard to see but even so I help her pick out which paper to use for the journal pages. Use this one next Mommy...
We're working really hard on the journal for Erika and we just want to let her know how thankful we all are for the opportunity to swap journals with her! Thank you Erika!

If you want to read a fun blog about crafts, home decorating and adorable kids, check out Erika's blog and to see her lovely fabric creations check out her Etsy shop!

Tortie Tuesday

It's Tortie Tuesday and since it is my day, I plan on enjoying MY day doing what I love...
Hey Sadie, what are you doing here? It's TORTIE Tuesday, not Sadieday!
Awww, I'm sorry Sadie. You can come back!
Today's lesson is to not be selfish and share a part of yourself and your day. Everything is much better when shared with those you love!

What have you shared recently?

Happy Tortie Tuesday!
Isabella

Working Weekend

Since Sadie went on a Field Trip over the weekend, we stayed home and worked. We take our job as Purrfessional Toy Testers very seriously so while others can goof off, we tested Casbah Kitten's new toy, Dynomite! We got so into our testing that the photos are blurry but that won't stop us from filing a thorough report. First of all, the Dynomite is labeled correctly - it says TNT which means "Whoa, Nelly - this is explosive fun!".
There's even a little explosion coming out of it too (don't worry, this is really just ribbons that you can put the bitey on).
You can also put the bitey on the stick of Dynomite itself.
It's the purrfect size to hold on to...
and you can even bunny kick it!
So as you can see, the Dynomite passed our test paws down! There is just one slight problem though. The homegrown Kentucky catnip they use will make you turn upside down and you'll suddenly see two Mommys instead of one.
This is only temporary and only enhances your fun!

Thank you jane, Alice and Rita for making such pawesome toys! We love the Dynomite and have carried it all over the house playing with it! Your toys are the best!

Happy Victoria Day to our furiends in Canada too!

Sadieday Field Trip Continued!

Welcome back to this extended version of Sadieday! Yesterday we started our field trip on a forest trail and had crossed a very stable bridge across a normal creek. Today, we find a little more excitement and here's a hint of what's to come...
Yep, that's says suspension bridge and here it is...
Okay, just to let you know, my mommy is scared of heights and especially when not on steady ground but she braved it for me. It is a long way down and a long way across but let's get going.
We made the mistake of having Daddy walk on the bridge behind us cause Mommy says he made it sway (according to her it was like walking on Jell-o). Daddy denies doing anything but if you were on the central Oregon Coast recently and heard a loud scream - it was my Mommy on a swaying suspension bridge in the middle of the forest! Ha roo roo!
Making it across means we have to go back and remember that creek? Well, it drops off to make Drift Creek Falls. Wanna see Mommy what saw out of the corner of her eye while hurrying back across the long 240 ft (73.15 metres) bridge WITHOUT Daddy on the bridge at the same time?
After Daddy came across the bridge, she made him go back out to the middle to get a better photo of the 75 ft (22.86 metres) tall Drift Creek Falls...
After all the excitement of the bridge and falls, we hiked back up to the trail head...
and then I slept all the way home. We had a great field trip and I hope you enjoyed it too!

Enjoy your extended Sadieday!

Sadieday Field Trip!

It's finally Sadieday! Today we're going to go on a field trip and I hope you can join us! We're going to have to drive over to the Oregon Coast so let's get going!
Instead of going to the beach, we'll go on a very narrow, slow, twisty road into the forest to a place with lots of trees and plants to sniff and a really nice trail to walk on...
Can you see the size of the three leaf clovers beside me? They are huge! A four leaf clover that size would bring lots and lots of luck but we had no luck in finding one.
There was lots of fun sights and smells along the way...
and there were some bridges to cross too...
That bridge looks stable and the creek looks pretty normal doesn't it?
Well, stay tuned until tomorrow to see another bridge we were on and what happens to the creek a little bit further down the trail. So for now, we'll wait right here...
and our field trip will be continued tomorrow!

Have a Happy Sadieday and be sure to visit tomorrow!

Picture Purrfect

The current EtsyBloggers blog carnival hosted by Sweet Sally Soaps asks us to show our all time favorite piece of art and why we find it inspiring. Well, for me this was an easy choice. Isn't this a beautiful piece of art?
Do you see the resemblance to some kitty in particular?
Here's a hint - notice the name of the gorgeous Tortie on the card...
Now do you recognize the (Super)model?
As for inspiring, well, that's self explanatory!

Many thanks to Kira the BeaWootiful's mom, Pamela Fleming, for painting such a lovely Tortie fairy and be sure to check out this card and her other lovely work in her Etsy shop, The Magic Sleigh.
