Birdies!

Last weekend Mommy and Daddy went to an open house at Chintimini Wildlife Rehab Center to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this wonderful organization. Chintimini provides the treatment and care necessary to return injured, orphaned, or sick wildlife to their natural habitat. Some animals cannot be returned to the wild due to the nature of their injuries though. If we had known what they were going to see before they went, we would have gone with them! They saw really big birdies such as Morgan the Sparred Owl.
And Azjnii the Great-horned owl. Azjnii is at Chintimini because he has cataracts so can't hunt on his own.
They also saw this Red Tail Hawk
and this one.
Isn't this little owl cute? He was such a tiny thing we don't know why Mommy couldn't bring him home to play with us!
This isn't a birdie but he is certainly a big boy! He had to stay in the car but it was a cool day and the windows were down. If not, we're sure Mommy would have done something since she hates to see doggies left in a car with the windows up.
Since Mommy and Daddy visited these birdies last weekend, I'm going to watch to see if they come visit us in return.
We hope you enjoyed seeing the birdies as much as we did!
Have a great Purrsday!
Isabella

Those kind of birdies are very impressive because they hunt too. They are all very beautiful!

Amazing birds. I think Sammy is a little afraid of the big ones, though :)

I'm reading through some of the blogs I follow this morning. I always love stopping by your place. I saw some captive birds of prey this Summer at a wild life preserve. Aren't they beautiful?

The birds are beautiful! We have a Wildlife Shelter like yours near our home. Thank goodness for all they do for these animals who need rehab!

Our mom loves Owls, they make her happy!

We sure hope those cute birdies come over to visit! You look like you're in the standard tortie 'welcome' pose, Isabella!

My son likes to smush (sp?) his face against the window like that dog. Not the car window. The windows at home. Just in case you thought I meant in the car!

How in the world did they find a bird with cataracts? It's not like birds make appointments to the doctor. Hmmmm.

My mom loves them!

She's got the knakhk fur spotting them whilst she's out and about too - another khool part of her transports is getting to see all the hawks (and sometimes eagles) along I81!

The other day one of our neighbourhood hawks buzzed past the bakhkyard with a snakhk whilst being 'chased' by one of the khrows!

Mom says THANK YOU fur sharing these khool pikhtures!

You are a very good watch-tortie, Isabella, I am sure they were happy to have you guarding the house :)

Sharla, your writing is so creative...I'm LMBO "to see if they come visit us in return"

Thats a dog?

I feel the same way about humans leaving furbabies in cars.

Beautiful birdies :)

I wish we had that here. Most Malaysians see an injured animal and eat it. Or sell it as "traditional medicine."

Kitties have to watch out for those birdies! They'll eat you!!! Yikes.

Wonderful owls! You have a good thing going for you that you mix the real owls with jewellery and accessories with the owl-theme.
We're trying to do jewellery on a cat-theme, but it is difficult to find good cat-charms if you are not a trained smith and can make them yourself. We have found a cat bead made of silver by a Danish goldsmith, but they are so expensive. Your "I =heart= my cat/dog are nice"

Wow those are some cool birdies! But I think it is better that they aren't there to play with you - they are way more aggressive then the birds you are probably used to seeing! But it is cool that there is a place there to take care of them when they need the help!

Great shots of these lovely raptors. So thankful that there are rehab places that can care for these normally elusive birds and create a better awareness of their value in the environment.

Terrific birds! It reminds me of the owls that are in a tree across the street from us. You can hear them screeching at night and it is really cool to see them fly over our house. Isabella, at least you can dream of these birds while taking one of your infrequent naps ;)
