Ho Hum Hot Kinda Day

We're having a case of the hots here with temperatures near 90 degrees so the windows are closed which mutes the volume of our Birdie Network so I'm having to watch it on video...
It's never too hot for napping in sunpuddles either...
My sisfur Isabella had to go to the v-e-t yesterday because she has a front tooth loose and her gums are red.  The v-e-t said the tooth will fall out on its own like several others have since her last dental visit in February (Mommy didn't know this).  She also said her red gums are from gingivitis and isn't bad enough to warrant a cleaning yet or any meds.  Anyway, since it was so hot out and she got nervous in the car so she wasn't feeling too well last night...
She's feeling better after chillin' for a bit though.

The v-e-t still can't believe that Isabella is a real Tortie since she is so mellow and easy going.  She said Torties are supposed to be high maintenance with a devilish streak in them but we don't know any Torties like that - do you?

Hope you have a chillin' kind of day!
Angel

We're glad you can find a nice spot to snooze until the hots go away. We're also glad that Isabella is feeling better.

We gave you an award on our blog today!

MOL! I am sure you meant that last comment about torties to be ironic because you know my roommate Binga very well! Isabella is lucky - although Binga dodged it this time, Boodie needs a dental cleaning.

High maintenance? A devilish streak? ME? I am nothing if not angelic and mellow...*evil laughs*
I hope you feel better after a good night's rest, Isabella! Shall I teleport over to show your vet how *angelic* we torties are?

Love from your Fellow Tortie,
Tutu

It's been stinking hot here too, the past couple of days. As in high 90s and even 100+ with the humidity. Bleh. Fall temps tomorrow, though, so relief is on the way.

RE: Isabella--Yeah, Derry has chronic gingivitis too. I had him in to the new vet in July for a thorough check and while he does have tartar on his back teeth and some gum bleeding at the back, it's not yet bad enough for another cleaning. Probably next year, I'm guessing. They gave me something medicated to put on his gums--you can rub it on--supposedly an antibacterial gel. Can't think of the name of it. Trouble is, it's VERY runny and I only tried a couple of times. Consistency is not my forté. Plus it doesn't have a good taste like the poultry-flavoured toothpaste does. I do use that on Derry's gums, but again, not enough. Will Isabella let you rub some onto her gums? Derry will tolerate it, barely, for the taste of it, but Nicki won't let me put it on HIS gums...though he WILL let me open his mouth. Go figure.

Give the toothpaste a try if possible. It can't hurt, might stave off a dental for longer.

It's been unusually hot here, too! Sorry she had to go to the v-e-t. I wouldn't be a fan of that, either. :-/

Isabella, MY mommy said that her Tortie, Admiral was NOT high maintenance and was very sweet and peaceful. I wish Torties would not get that bad rap. Oh, well, Tutu, um...that's debatable. She is a LIVE wire for certain!!!

I hope your sweet Tortie gums get better sweet girl. Please feel better today. xoxoxox

No... we don't know ANYcat like that!!!
Please tell Isabella I sure hope she feels better. Lots of rest and having her every whim catered to ought to do it.
Hope your temps cool down!

Your vet described our calico, Lily Olivia, the champion of the stink-eye and often a downright pain in the butt. Both our torties, Astrid and Calista, are pretty laid back. Though Astrid is our escape artist, she has been on her best behavior for quite sometime. So sorry about Isabella's mouth and teeth. Some kitties just seem to have more problems than others. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Misty May, Mauricio, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

You look very comfy Angel, and poor Isabella with sore gums and waiting for a tooth to fall out. Okay, the ride in the car and the dentist visit was way worse.

Have a purrfect day you two. My best to your wonderful mom. ☺

All of Stinky the Farm cat's teeth have fallen out. It hasn't stopped her though - she had a chipmunk in her mouth the other day.

Tell the Mama to get some of this: http://www.chewy.com/cat/virbac-cet-enzymatic-dog-cat-poultry/dp/41660. Even if she can't brush Isabella's teeth very well (use a finger toothbrush - available at any pet store) just having this in her mouth will help with the gingivitis. Yes, yes it is edible and digestible.

It worked great on BB the orange boy after he had 4 teeth removed. Now his gums are properly pink instead of angry red and the vet said his teeth are just great now. We brushed his teeth every night for a few weeks, until his guns got all healthy and now we just brush them once a week or so...for maintenance.

We've been trying to use this with Miss Frankie but she won't even let us get some in her mouth much less let us brush her teeth!

We have poultry flavor but I think it comes in fish flavor too...

It works!

I'm glad that Isabella is doing well and that the activity choices aren't too limited even with the hot weather!

It was real hot here a couple of days ago...but now it's gotten waaaaay cool. Maybe you'll get some cool too.

We're sorry Isabella had to go to the vet, but we're glad to hear her teefs weren't too bad.
