I didn't get away with hiding out and was put in my PTU for a car ride. Oh how I hate car rides!
Mommy gave me Rescue Remedy starting early this morning and she talked to me and pet me the whole way but I still got sick. Once I was at the vet's office, Daddy took me out of the PTU and held me and I was much better. It helped that everyone told me how beautiful and soft I was too. They said I am so mellow I'm very un-Tortie like which makes no sense because I'm me and I'm a Tortie so how can I be unlike me? Anyway, I didn't like the cold exam table so they let me lay in the scale. The sides made me feel secure and so did Daddy petting me...
I met the dental specialist and she was very nice. She has asthma too so she understands how afraid Mommy and Daddy are of me having an attack while being under anesthesia. Since she only works in our town on Wednesdays and I have to undergo extra precautions, my dental surgery is scheduled for November 25th - the day before Thanksgiving. A week before this I have to start taking antibiotics and also have a cortisone shot to help prevent an asthma attack. I'll also have two daily treatments of my inhaler instead of one for that week before. Additionally, she gave Mommy and Daddy two estimates for my surgery. Daddy had said he bet there'd be a 2 in front and he was right...
The low one on the left is for surgery lasting 1.5 hours and no board certified anesthesiologist and the other is for 2 hours plus an additional $600 for a board certified anesthesiologist which the specialist recommended since I'm a special needs kitty. Mommy agreed to the board certified anesthesiologist because, well, I'm worth it but as she thought of it more she couldn't believe that all anesthesiologists aren't board certified. This was something she hadn't ever considered before but it seems so logical. Is it something that's not common and she just didn't realize? Anyway, while they discussed the estimate and the board certified thing, I just wanted to get the halibut home!
Are we there yet?
My little sisfur has hissed at me and also bopped me on the head but Mommy yells "HEY!" and she runs away. For awhile. She better be glad I'm mellow.
Hope your day is a good one!
Isabella

You are such a little beauty and worth the extra expense, but still...people wonder why so many pets don't get the proper vet care. Just outrageous.
I'm glad you're home and will be purring for you next month!
Oh Isabella! You poor thing! I hope you are feeling better in the mean time, and I hope your surgery is easy and scare-free!
Jumpin' geezus, that estimate....!!!!!! Holy cod!!!!!
Here the techs do the anesthetic, as far as we know. Never heard of a "board certified" anesthesiologist. At least not at our clinic!
Isabella, that pic of you broke our biped's heart, because that's what Derry is like at the vet. So scared. We'll be sending you all our purrs and purrayers that all will be fine, no problems.
Hugs!
Hi Isabella !
Sorry to see that you are so scared at the vet´s and sorry for the BIG hole there is going to be in your humans wallet :(
But me to think you are totally worth it and some more :)
XOXO
You do what you gotta do for those you love. This is not foolish or wasteful--it needs to be done and done safely...hence the specialist and the extra cost. I would do the same. Heck...I've dropped $1000 at the Animal Ophthalmologist for one kitty friend.
Fortunately, you have the money...or at least the ability to pay the bill. There is also pet insurance and CareCredit.
All that matters is that our dear kitty friend is okay. And it looks like she is in very capable hands. Now....to get Mommeh to not worry too much before then. :)
Sending special purrayers that everything goes well! Our furbabies are worth every penny! It's a good thing they're cute, right :)
Oh Isabella, what an ordeal you went through. I hafta have my teefs cleaned soon, too. But I don't get a board certified anesthesiologist. The vet did say I'd have a board certified vet technician. Guess I'm not a special as you are.
I hope you got lots of treats when you got home.

Well, yes, you're a special kitty! You should be mega-pampered between now and then -- and we'll keep praying!!!
Cammie!
Mommy is right about the board certified anesthesiologist. Better to be safe with her baby. I'm sure dad feels the same. What a horrible day. And you have to go back and you don't know that yet. Oh no.
Have a purrfect day. My best to your peeps. ♥♥♥
Safety first! If there is anything to look forward, and there doesn't seem to be a lot, when BB had a bunch of teeth taken out last year, they gave him a shot of pain killer that lasted for 3 days! He was very happy for 3 days! You'll be fine - just don't think about.
Holy cats Izzy! That's a lot of earrings! Paws crossed it stays on the low side. Guess you guys might just be having deli sandwiches for Thanksgiving!
Xoxo
All we can say is OMC!!
you poor Poor POOR baby!!!! Mommy kinda winced at the vet estimate...but of COURSE you are totally worth every penny, plus a million. We will have our paws crossed for sure on 11/25.
In the meanwhile, milk this for ALL IT'S WORTH.
We think you deserve the best of care too, sweet girl. So glad this consultation thing is behind you and you're one step closer to getting this over. Sending purrs to all of you.
XOXO
Oh Isabella, we are so glad your day at the vet is done. They were so nice to let you lie on the scale, sign of a caring vet. That is a lot of money for the extra precaution, but you are so worth it. We hope the big visit goes well. Mom will have to puree some turkey and pumpkin for your Thanksgiving Day feast.
Woos - Ciara and Lightning
Isabella, you are SO worth every penny and then some more....and your Mommy knows it! I will be having my paws crossed and sending up soft woofs and prayers for you ......and especially your Mommy because I know she is going to need them. All will be well and you will feel so much better.....hugs and tail wags...SisseeLou
What a lousy day, Isabella! At least you don't have to go back for a whole month!
Oh Isabella...we can certainly relate. We are not fond of car rides either. Not. At. All. Miss Chloe was famous for getting sick every time, but now she just pants like a freak for the entire ride! That is a BIG bill...but we sure do hope that everything works out all right. They should give you free Xanax just for making the trip to the vet! BOL!!
Oh Isabella, we are so sorry that you have to go through the tooth deal. We sure will be sending you some extra purrs Glad the Daddy was there to help you through the appointment. That is a huge bill but like I always say, you get what you pay for and it is so much better to be safe and not sorry
Oh Isabella, I'm so sorry you have to go through all of that!!
We're all purraying for you and sending lots of hugs to Mommy, we know she's worried about your safety.
Oh my goodness, what an ordeal! It sounds like you were so well behaved during your appointment, and I know your mommy and daddy are proud. I'll be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts to your mommy about the procedure.
Isabella, I am so sorry beautiful girl. And seeing your sad little body in the scale just made Mommy here sad. You poor baby. Love to all of you.
oh you sweetheart! You were such a good girl!! YIKES at the bill!! Do Mom and Dad have Care Credit? If not, tell them they should apply....it is fantastic!! Also, do Mom and Dad have pet insurance? If so, you would more than likely be reimbursed approx 80%!!
xoxo

You beautiful and sweet tortilicious girl. This sounds as if it is going to be quite an ordeal for you besides the one you had just for the consultation. We had no idea there were anesthesiologists who are not Board Certified. Mom is definitely going to check this out the next time any of us have to be put under. We are sure you smell like vet and that's why Angel is being a stinker. Tell Mom to wipe down Angel with a towel and then wipe you down with the same towel. We'll continue to keep you in our purrs and prayers. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

Poor Isabella, you had a bad day. The tooth fairy will get working on some toys for you. I am glad your parents are going to take the extra precautions for your safety sweet girl.
Oh Isabella, what a trauma for you!! Mum says the vet bill is a trauma for the humans!! Sending lots of healing purrs and hope all goes well on the 25th xxx
You beautiful girl, my dilute tortie angel Ms. Phoebe also had asthma and stomatitis, so I understand completely how Mommy and Daddy worry about anesthesia. I would pay any extra amount for a board certified anesthesiologist too, as our babies are worth it. Your parents love and care for you so well, it helps me to worry less about you knowing this. After all is finished with your surgery, you will feel so much better! I remember Ms. Phoebe literally ran out from her carrier upon returning home after her surgery, zooming about and rubbing up against everyone while purring and chirping happily! She was like a kitten again romping, attaching toys things she hadn't done in months. And when it came to eating I had to restrict her from having as much as she wanted right away until her tummy could adjust after having been tube fed for weeks beforehand.
We will be sending and thinking positive thoughts about your upcoming surgery sweetie, we know you will do just fine. As Clove put it 'Isabella is a fellow tortie ladycat Mom, you know how tough we are in spirit and body. We don't have tortitude for nothing!'
Don't worry about Angel, she loves you she is just reacting to the strange smells from the vet. Once they disappear at home she will be cuddling with you again.
OR tortie ladycats ROCK!!
Clove, Kaspars, & Mom
Oh no's! So sorry you have to go through this Isabella! I'm glad they're taking special precautions - we'll be worried about you! Sending extra kitty kisses your way! Love, Moon xoxo
Oh, MY COD!! Dentists all over the world have the same problem... they think they are so special. Human dentistry is the same ....too bloody expensive. I worked as an assistant for nearly 20 years...and, there is, of course, no way they need to charge as much as they do. They do it because they can.
I one time assisted for a root canal on a police dog.....the dentist I worked for did it ... we had a closed office that day. .... except for that patient.
