We forgot to mention on our post yesterday why the glaciers, especially the Hubbard Glacier, are so blue. It might have looked like Mommy added color to the photos but she doesn't have a clue how to do that didn't. It truly is that blue...
The reason is because the glacier ice is so dense that it absorbs all colors of the light spectrum except for blue making it the only color we see...
Pretty cool huh? Another thing they learned while they were there was how to tell if a valley was formed by a glacier or by water. Valleys formed by water are in the shape of a V like the Grand Canyon but valleys formed by glaciers are in the shape of a U like this...
Now that our geological refresher course is over, it's time to bring on the smiles this Sadieday. We could do that by showing a cute pile of sled dog puppies...
She was silly but she always made us smile! We hope you have lots of reasons to smile today! Be sure to spread those smiles around since you never know who's day you'll change with just a smile!
Enjoy your Sadieday and have a great weekend!

The photos were wonderful -- we saw the previous post's photos too. Our human wishes she had had a digital camera when she was on her cruise to Alaska, eons ago. :-)
Those pups are just so, so adorable...as was Sadie, of course.

PeeEssWoo: My post today should be khalled Snakhkday Saturday - just sayin' ;-)
Sadie's way of eating her bones reminded Mommy of Whisky. She tried hard not to get her feets dirty too. MOL!
Thanks for explaining! I was wondering about that blue colour too! Those photos of Sadie with her feets spread wide...that's too cute :)
That is so cool how blue those glaciers are! And a pile of puppies - always a smile inducer as is seeing old photos of Sadie! Sweet girl!

BOOTIFUL !!!
And blow kisses to Miss Angel Sadie :)
Have a great weekend
xoxo
Wow, those glaciers are just gorgeous. Interesting about why they are blue. And of course we love seeing your smile, Sadie. You always make us smile. You all have a great day.
Sadie is the best!
ooo...cute puppies!
The Alaska photos are stunning.
The ice is blue because of the glacial flour mixed in (which absorbs all light except blue...). If there's a lot of this flour, the water/ice is silvery gray.
That final photo of Sadie certainly made our mommy smile as did those puppies. Thanks for telling us about the glaciers. Mom never thought Alaska was someplace she needed to see, but your posts and photos are starting to change her mind. Thanks for the info on the blue color - My fav photo in this post is the last one - Smiling Sadie....
What a lovely cruise you had. Thanks for the history lesson too.
I so loved Sadie. I remember lurking over here seeing your posts about Sadie or the kitties or all three.
Have a woof woof Sadie day. Scritches to the babies. :)
Beautiful photos!
Thanks for sharing...

I forgot why the ice was blue but I knew it naturally was. Thank you for the information. Been several years since my youngest went on a Photog expedition.
WHat gorgeous photos! Happy Sadieday to you too!!!
We didn't know that about glaciers. Thanks for the geology lesson. :) And thanks for sharing those cute pics of Sadie. She always makes us smile.
Our Mommy (the science geek) loved learning those "cool" facts!
Those blue pics are amazing!!! Really beautiful!! Love the little sled dog pics and of course...special SADIE!! She was so sweet!
that is very interesting about the glaciers. They are a pretty shade of blue too.
Those puppies are so cute but I think Sadie has them beat :)
The blue is just so cool!
And those puppies are down right adorable! Sadie is such a cutie not wanting to get her paws dirty :)
Those puppies are too cute, as is Sadie with her clean paws. I had a dog who adored her bones too, she had one everyday for breakfast. I love learning new things and I didn't know about the "U" shaped valleys!
Wow, gorgeous photos of your trip! Mom said when she and Dad have gone to Canada, they saw pretty blue glaciers like that too. I haven't seen them myself.
OMD!!! The puppies are sooooooo cute!!!!
