Fursday Review

It's obvious that I'm a natural beawooty but for some reason Mommy doesn't think my furs all over the house is that beawootiful.  Yeah, I know, she's silly.  Anyway, I absolutely hate being brushed but awhile back we had the opportunity to try a FURminator and although I only tolerate it for 43.6 seconds, Mommy is able to get a lot of loose furs from my gorgeous, thick husky coat during that little time.

Well, unbeknownst to me, Mommy was contacted by the FURminator people again to try out their new at-home grooming tool line.  These are a 2-Step Grooming Process which encourages brushing first to detangle and smooth fur and combing second to smooth and extract debris, mats and tangles.  She answered some questions about my furs and the tools showed up in the mail.  Step 1's Slicker Brush looked a little intimidating...
Step 2's Curry Comb didn't look so bad.  I think I can get away from handle this one...
I agreed to let her attempt to try these things out on me but she'd have to catch me first...
Mommy, since you're the one who agreed to this, why don't you try it out on yourself!
She didn't go for that and she eventually caught me and you know what, it wasn't so bad.  I don't know how those FURminator people do it but their brushes really work...
The Slicker Brush didn't take out as much fur as the regular FURminator does but it was sure easy to use and tolerate - even by somebuddy who hates brushing like me.  The Curry Comb didn't work all that well but we don't know if that was because 1) my furs are so thick; 2) the teeth of the comb weren't very thick or 3)  I didn't sit still long enough to give it a good try.  Regardless, don't I look beawootiful even with less fur...
Even my cutie patootie is cuter!
The 2-Step Grooming Process seems to be made for furs that aren't as thick as husky fur but regardless, the brush did work on me but the comb, not so much.  We do appreciate that FURminator has great tools that work without a lot of time, effort or drama for both me and my kitty sisfurs.

Do you use the FURminator brushes?

Hope you have a great FURsday!
Sadie

Disclaimer:  We receive the Slicker Brush and Curry Comb from FURminator free of charge but that did not influence our opinions expressed in this post.

I love brushing, FURminating, you name it! I would probably love all those tools, Sadie, although they are probably way too big for tiny little me!

Hi Sadie! Mama used to use those furminator type tools on our big brother and they were awesome!! But, we don't have furs like that so she just sends us to the spa for the day. It doesn't come out as good when she tries to do it at home! BOL! Love your cutie patootie!!! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

The only thing my mom use on me is a Spratts comb , since the point of being a Sacred Birma is that you shoud be really fluffy :)
We Birmans don´t have any undercoat either , so I guess that does our fur easier to handle ??
You look really nice after the treatment Sadie <3

I have a pre-set time period I'll let Mom brush me - she nevFUR knows how long it it will be until I turn into EVIL dog ;-)

No FURminator here - we have a Chris Christensen brush - and I don't mind it (much)!

Mommy uses the FURminator on my kitty siblings as well as kitty clients with very very good results.

She doesn't use it on me because I am single coated. Moreover, I don't shed. Heehee.

Well done, you look gorgeous. You might have to coax her to do this now more often.

You look gorgeous both before and after the brushing, Sadie. I can't blame your mom for wanting less hair around, though. I use the FURminator on Scarlett and Melly to try and reduce their (unbelievably prodigious) shedding. It doesn't seem to make much of a dent in the shedding, but it does make their coats softer.

Harley's not a fan of the brush either! I don't think he'd sit still to be brushed twice! Once is sure an entertaining event...LOL :)

We use a Furbuster and Arwen really likes it...she tends to back away at first if we don't brush on a regular basis, but once we get into it, she relaxes, her head droops and she has, on more than one occasion, fallen asleep or started drooling :D

The Farm cats would probably Furminate a whole herd of new cats. I have never tried one but if they want to send one for them to test. heh

Angel is not big on brushing either, so those tools would not go over so well in our household, but it's good to know that they work well! You're always beautiful, Sadie, even with less fur.

This is the second review we have seen about the new Furminator products. We have the original Furminator but Mom thinks it breaks our furs. She thinks she might like to try that slicker brush on us. She has never had much luck with combs either. Thanks for the review.

RUN, Sadie! Run for your LIFE!!!!
Oh. She already used the brushes on you? Oh. Err... well, I tried to warn you. That being said, you DO look simply marvelous. Dave and I think you looked mighty gorgeous BEFORE the brushing, too, but you know how bipeds are!
Play bows,
Zim
PS: We had a FurMinator, but a breeder friend told mom they aren't good to use on red/white Sibes, so she sent it to our aunt to use on our fur-cousins. Ha roo roo roo!

we've never tried the furminator but I like being combed brushed and even vacuumed so my mom doesn't have much trouble with me. Well other than taking me to the groomers on a regular basis. You look fabulous Sadie

You are looking very pretty after your grooming session Sadie! My Mom uses a special dog brush on me - do you believe it? A dog brush! Doesn't she know I'm a cat? Love, Moon

That was a great review, Sadie. And very timely for National Hairball Awareness Day tomorrow, though we know woofies don't get hairballs like us cats.

I have a fabulous type of brush thing for my kitty. I am not sure if it is a fuminator or not, I got it a few years ago. It flips back and forth, with a wide toothed type comb on one side for detangling, and a finer toothed comb on the other side for getting out all that loose cat fur. It works awesomely!

We have a furminator knock-off and while I like it...the kitties don't so much. I used it on Hobbes the other day and the yard looked like a coyote got somebody! There was fur EVERYWHERE! I think Hobbes lost 15 pounds. Hee! Hee!
