This article from January 2001 tells of the rescue of 40 adult Huskies and six litters of puppies from Banner County, Nebraska. Our dog, Sadie, was one of the puppies rescued by the humane society. She's the brown puppy in the picture.
Although Sadie was rescued early and now lives the good life, we have to speak out on behalf of the animals who are still living in cruel and neglectful conditions. Puppy mills have got to be shut down. Education is the key and once people know the horrible conditions animals are subjected to, it can no longer be swept under the rug. There are many responsible breeders out there but the ones who are not, have got to be stopped.
Our BeadedTail shop features many bracelets with animal awareness ribbons to show your support and we will donate a portion of the proceeds to animal awareness causes. You can also link directly to the ASPCA via the widget on the top of our blog and donate to their fight against animal cruelty and neglect. Support your local shelters too by giving money or your time or adopting a wonderful, loving furry friend. Thank you for helping us make the world a better place for animals! =^..^=

Sadie is a beauty! We hope all of the other pups and dogs found a nice cushy life just like Sadie.
How cool that she was in the paper! Glad they were all saved and Sadie has a good life.
Excellent post. We all need to do what we can to spread the word about puppy mills.

That is so special! Yay for Sadie and yay for you!
That's such a wonderful story about how you got Sadie. She was such a cute puppy and is a gorgeous dog. It's good that you did this post because people like me -- who aren't pet owners and don't keep up with stuff like this -- need to be aware of what's going on.
BTW: Thanks for the birthday wish and coming by my blog. I really appreciate it.
I am glad you re-posted that because it was a great story.
What a beautiful blog. It is nice to see someone who cares for these innocent little creatures. How could anyone resists those faces!
Thanks for sharing the story - Sadie is so pretty!

I cannot tell which I am feeling more, the heartache, tears, or goosebumps!
Sadie is perfect, her Mommy & Daddy are very special.
Is it not such a joyfilled experience to love these little one's beyond words...
Sadie is beautiful! Thanks for posting this - wonderful story!
What a sweet story! Sadie is beautiful.. I am sad to say that I my dear dog passed away earlier this week..on Monday. This story is uplifting...glad you found each other!
Sadie is a beautiful and lucky doggie!!! WE agree that it is sad that cat & puppy mills exist. The only way to stop it is to have humans have respect for animals! That will be hard as they do not have respect for each other. Still,we cannot give up!!

I am so happy that Sadie found a wonderful forever home with you!
What a touching story!!
Our little girl Suzy is a rescued Alaskan Husky as well. She wasn't as luck as Sadie with getting into a loving home while still very young, but she has the good life now and that is all that matters.
I think that rescue dogs are the best and plan on never buying another puppy mill dog again - which is what we found out Rebel was after he started having problems and we tried to contact his breeder.... Great post!!
