Hoo boy, what a week this has been! As you've probably figured out, we have a new family member and we weren't consulted. Her name is Lexi and she's a 13 week old Golden Retriever...
Don't let that sweet face fool you! She's wound up like an 8 day clock and she barks at us and chases us! We stay upstairs but do occasionally come down to inspect the little brat...
She joined our family Sunday and has yet to sleep through the night although she made it to 5am yesterday morning so I suppose that's okay since that's when we wake mommy up for treats anyway. To get Lexi to sleep more, she's taken on three walks a day...
Anyway, she had two previous families but they both didn't work out because the people didn't have time for puppyhood so Mommy was told about her the day before they left for Maui. They went to meet her and, the suckers they are, brought her home after they got back from their trip. We guess she's going to stay here no matter what we think.
How was your week?
Hope you have a good weekend!

My human says she hopes never to see another puppy in our house - they are SO much work! That said, Lexi is adorable, and this is the perfect time for your humans to bring one home, since tax season is months off. There's lots of time to get her adjusted and have fun with her right now. As for you two kitties, I think you girls should whap her when she get out of hand. That's really the only way a puppy learns that kitties are boss... but you know what? I bet I would not whap her either. 'Cause I'm not a whappy kind of kitty. Well, I'm sure you all will get used to each other anyway, and maybe even be good pals!
That is some doggone good news but I imagine it was a catastrophic shock for the two of you. She's very cute. I'm sure she will catch on to the rules of your house soon. Maybe a few bats to the head will help her learn. (gentle bats of course, no claws)
Hoo boy, all right! She'll be a handful for a while, but puppy training for obedience, etc. will help. We think she's a sweetie and hope that in time you all become friends.
Lexi, you are too cute and we bet you will get to like those kitty kats. We bet the Mom there is exhausted but Goldens are fantastic dogs and things will get better.Hang in there Angel and Isabella.
She is beautiful!
I think cats have to teach the dogs early on who is the boss. I agree with Summer--you gotta give 'em a whap so they keep their distance. Some dogs have to learn the hard way. But, she is young, so give her a little break.
Mommy is much more brave than I. I can't handle kittens in the house anymore.
Wait. 5 a.m. isn't sleeping in? Who knew?!?
Lexi sure is adorable! She'll settle in eventually! I mean, look at me and how I settled down!
If it's any consolation, I understand Goldens mellow out quicker than Siberians. She'll be your bestest friend before you know it!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
She's adorable and she'll get with the schedule soon enough. So will the kitties.
I linked this post to Feline Friday in honor of your two kitties that have to deal with this permanent introoder.
Have a woof woof and purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. My best to your mom and J. ♥
Lexie is a real cutie pie!!! Your peeps are experienced dog folks so we have no doubt that in no time at all Lexie will be sleeping all night and become your best new pal. We are so very happy for your family and we can just see Angel Sadie with that great big smile beaming down at you.

We can't believe you two weren't consulted about this new family member! But, since she's already there...and probably not going to leave...make sure you train her well to know that cats come first. (pee ess...Lexi is very cute!)
Puppies are like human babies - a lot of work but as they get older you might find her fun.
Awww, Lexi has had a tough start to life...taken from her Mama and going to different homes. People do not realize the commitment when they take on a puppy....it's forever, not until you get tired of them! Through sickness or anything else that pup is your child and they should be treated as such! Heaven knows we have had our share of sick pets in our household but we would never think for a moment of turning them in somewhere. We are there for them for their entire lives.....Lexi, you have a super Mama and Dad now...no more worries little one, rest easy.....so happy for you all.
She is cute, but be sure she learns you two are in charge :)
Puppies are a lot of work, i hope she learns not to chase you. As for wanting to sleep on your people, dogs/wolves are family animals, and as pups they are never left alone. An adult is always with them and they sleep all huddled up at night with their family pack. It's normal for that species. A bit of research might help you adjust to Lexi better.
What a cutie! Maybe you'll end up friends. My mom's dog is buddies with the indoor cats and the outdoor kitty (even though she's kind of wild and doesn't really like humans!). They snuggle up together and even groom each other!
oh what a cute puppy! and those are some puppy-dog eyes for sure!! hard to say no to that face. Hope the girls come around before long - it is hard to have a new member to the family!
Oh, boy...... a whole new experience for the girls.......
I see I have missed a lot and am catching up right now!
Lexi is such an adorable puppy - give her a big smooch from me :)
How do Isabella and Angel feel about their new fursister?
