So Close...

Imagine my surprise when I spotted a delicious cute little birdie on our deck! Unfortunately there was glass between him and me...
He just sat there calmly while I chattered and went bonkers. I made such a commotion Daddy came to see what was going on. Instead of letting me have him, he told spoilsport Mommy. She was afraid of the neighbor cat getting it so she dumped the grape tomatoes into a bowl, made Daddy hold me while she opened the door (because I really wanted to get to that birdie) and she scooped the birdie up in the container...
I knew exactly what to do with the birdie but they didn't so they called a local rescue who didn't answer the phone. Mommy then asked Maggie and Cammie's birdie expert mom what to do. She said it was a MacGillivary's Warbler and probably just stunned. Sure enough the birdie eventually began trying to fly in the container so Daddy released the little guy near my birdie bush and my breakfast flew away...
Dagnabbit anyway. That was so close but yet so far. It did make for an exciting weekend though!

How was your weekend?

Happy May!
Angel

What a cute little bird. Sorry you didn't get the breakfast you wanted but I'm glad the bird was just stunned and was ok

Hi Angel, we had a Warbler bonk into our window too. They are beautiful birds. Glad your Mom and Dad saved it.
Have a good day.

WE are so glad that Mommy saved that pretty little bird. Angel, Birds are not on your menu. Hopefully you got some treats instead. Have a super day.

Oh, what a pretty little bird! Too bad you couldn't have kept it, Angel. That wild turkey we had on our fence last week could have fed us and you and Isabella for a long time, though, longer than this little one would have fed you! :-D

Oh, it is such a cute little bird (and probably would've tasted delicious). That happens to birdies by us sometimes too...I think they fly into the window by accident and get a little shaken up. Glad this little birdie was okay...even if you didn't get a feathered breakfast.

I know mommy had an experience like that too and the lady also did not answer the phone. I almost wish they would;dn;t volunteer of they don't want the responsibility. You know,Mom's are such spoil sports!!!

Well, humans haven't been trained in hunting for their food (well, not most of them, at least). So when they catch a birdie, they don't know what to do with it. I think that's why they so foolishly let them go.

We feel your pain, Angel. Those silly birdies are always flying smack into our big windows and getting stunned. We of course are banned from going outside until AFTER the silly bird gets back on his feet and flies off.

That's why Lucy only goes outside on a leash! Good for Mommy who saved the little bird.

We know you wanted that birdie, Angel, but think of it this way -- you're a total HERO!!!!! Seriously, if you hadn't told your daddy about it, the neighbor cat might have hurt the birdie, and then where would we be? Sad. Sad is where we'd be! Look at how adorable he is!!!! And you saved his life!!! Our mom says you (oh, yeah ... and your mom and daddy) are big heroes for saving him!!!!!!! You deserve some salmons. Or an entire tuna or something. Really.
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

That was quite an adventure for the sweet little bird, it probably ran into the glass. If you set them in a safe spot, they generally come around.

Trust me, kibble is better for you!

Well, I'm glad that you didn't eat him! Poor little guy...must have hit the window, eh? We get a lot of that here too.

We have a little turtle now and Hobbes likes to watch him swim. That's better than birdies, he says.

Too bad your mom ruined your fun, Angel. Though we're glad the little birdie is okay.

Cute birdie. I bet it flew up against the glass and was therefore stunned. Glad Mommy saved it! Sammy and even Leo don't get too excited for birdies, but Sumi would probably want to chase them, however she isn't allowed outdoors...

Definitely not as exciting has yours. We are sorry you were not able to get at that birdie, while our mom is happy it was unhurt and able to fly. She says that you'll have more fun watching it grow up. As if! PFFFFT! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
